Accessible Cruise & Travel

My personal journey unexpectedly thrust me into the world of disability following my son, Shane’s motor cycle accident in October 2016. His recovery journey has been a steep learning curve and one that I am passionate about. Having gained a new understanding about what it means to be limited and/or treated differently in every day life has seen me advocate strongly for my son and also for others impacted by unexpected changes in their circumstances and working out  how I can make a positive difference.

When it comes to special needs it is more that someone who has acquired an unexpected injury. As we age and/or become susceptible to physical changes in our bodies and even mental changes in our mind we still remain the “same person” with the same wants and needs as everyone else.

To be limited with the choices in your life when things are suddenly more difficult or seemingly not possible must be devastating and life changing and yet we see people of all ages every day adjusting and learning new skills to overcome impossible odds and go on living their lives to the fullest.

Shane’s recovery journey taught me a great deal about the different types of ability equipment that is available for those who require different types of assistance to make their everyday tasks easier to manage. Everything from bathroom aids to wheelchairs, from lifters to special beds and even assistance animals change people’s lives. There is such a range of options that can make a difference to enable people to live comfortably and more independently despite of their abilities.

So I embarked on some specialist study courses to enable me a better understanding of all types of special needs including hearing and vision impairments, mobility issues and even oxygen requirements. I don’t profess to know everything but I do know that with what I have personally experienced plus what I have learned through study means I can assist people who want to travel and cruise but feel they may not have access to what they want and need.

So that is what I am here for ….let me help you or your loved one enjoy the wonderful world of cruising and travel. Simply contact me for a special needs & travel consultation and we can start planning your trip of a lifetime!
